WASHINGTON: Commander of United Stated Central Command (CENTCOM), General Lloyd James Austin III, has acknowledged the effectiveness and achievements of the ongoing Pak military operation, Zarb-e-Azb, in North Waziristan and adjacent areas, reported by Daily Times.
General Lloyd James Austin in front of House Armed Services Committee in the Washington, acknowledged the effectiveness of ongoing Pak military operation, Zarb-e-Azab in North Waziristan in clearing militants of North Waziristan and other adjacent tribal areas. He added, ” The Pakistan military’s recent operations to clear militant of North Waziristan and other tribal areas and to prevent the militants’ return have achieved near-term success.”
He also expressed full support for stronger bilateral relationship and cooperation between two important countries of the Asia, Pakistan and Afghanistan. He acknowledged that the tension among Pakistan, India and Afghanistan can result in a major threat for the regional security. These countries should resolve their conflicts and tensions through dialogue.
In the same committee, US Secretary of Defense, Christine Warmouth said, “The United States would continue to work with Pakistan to address existing and emerging threats in the region.”
