Till the eradication of Militancy, the operations will continue: Gen Raheel

PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at his visiting to the Corps Head Quarters in Peshawar on Saturday was briefed about the development made in the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb and Khyber-1 operations.

In the light of the tweets made by Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa, the army chief was also briefed on the security situation in KP and FATA. On this occasion General Raheel declared that operations would continue till the finishing of militancy in the country. He also commended the improvement brought about through intelligence-based operations.

He added that the procedure of returning Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) to their dwellings would start by the middle of this month.

Earlier, Operation Zarbe-eAzb was triggered by the Pakistan Army last year in the wake of a brutal militant assault on Karachi’s international airport and failure of peace talks between the government and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTO) representatives.
Almost a million people have fled the offensive in North Waziristan, which is aimed at rooting out longstanding militant strongholds in the areas bordering Afghanistan.
