As many as one can count times, PML-N stalwarts, political commentators and former PTI president Javed Hashmi, on different forums repeated the same allegation on former spy-masters. Not only Zaheer-ul-Islam and another former ISI chief name was taken by many.
Defence Minister Khawja Asif in talk show commented that last year sit-ins was possible brainchild of Zaheer-ul-Islam because of his personal grievance as the government don’t take side when Geo TV senior anchor and journalist was shot in Karachi and Geo TV alleged that Zaheer-ul-Islam is behing that attack. Cheif Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif in a interview also raised the same type concerns saying the there should be inquiry committee formed to probe who was behind the sit-ins. However, PTI and PAT denied such allegations, PTI chief too asked government to form a commission to inquire any secret hand was involved behind the dharnas, only mud-slinging will not do anything.
Question is why ISPR needed to clear the air, Federal Minister for Climate Change Mushahid Ullah Khan claimed in interview given to BBC Urdu, Army Chief was unaware conspiracy behind sit-ins. According to Minister he heard that, in a meeting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif showed the tape recorded by Intelligence Bureau (IB), in which Zaheer-ul-Islam was giving directions to different players who were supposed to be playing the role in sit-ins. Raheel Sharif called the Spy-master asked him whether the voice in the tape is yours. Former ISI chief admitted in front of Premier and COAS.
