SBP introduces SMS service for distributing fresh currency notes this Eid


State Bank of Pakistan in association with Eocean Private Limited has brought in an SMS service for distribution of free currency notes to the masses this Eid.


The newfangled notes will be issued through 150 e-branches of commercial banks in the selected cities of Pakistan.

The decision is made to expand the facility for public in obtaining free currency notes on the eve of forthcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. The issuance to the public through Mobile SMS service will start from July 8, 2015.

In order to avail this facility, you need to send an SMS containing your CNIC/Smart Card number and the bank branch code you like to fetch new currency notes from. [e.g. CNIC Number (space) branch code] to 8877. In response, you will receive an SMS bearing your transaction code, branch address and transaction validity date, which is maximum of TWO working days.


After receiving the SMS, you need to approach to the concerned branch along with your CNIC/Smart Card and the Code received from 8877 to get the defined quota of fresh notes.

The branch reference codes of nominated e-branches are provided on SBP website and PBA website.

The quota of new notes to be issued comprises of one packet each of Rs.10, 20, 50 with an optional packet of Rs.100 as per availability of stock with the concerned branch.

It should also be kept in mind that you can acquire fresh notes quota only for one time form your mobile phone number using your CNIC/Smart Card number during this program.

Moreover, the charges for this service comprises of Rs.2 plus tax.
