Resolution to be adopted in NA to protect democracy

ISLAMABAD: In order to protect economy in the country a resolution is adopted in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal belonging to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) tabled the resolution before the cabinet which stated that democracy should be protected in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The progress comes as Islamabad braces for protest marches led by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PTA) chief Tahir ul Qadri who have pledged to tumble the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The two plan to march on August 14, when Pakistan celebrates Independence Day, along with thousands of supporters in anti-government rally protesting alleged rigging during general elections of 2013.

Meanwhile, two anti-government political parties, PTI and PAT, have planned to conduct long march and revolution march against the current government on August 14 in Islamabad. The government has high apprehensions concerning the law and order situation during these protests in the country.
