ISLAMABAD: Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Pakistan for two day official visit on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
It is the first official trip of a Qatari leader since 1999. Energy and labour issues are expected to be raised during the visit.
Moreover, the agreement of 15-year multibillion dollar deal to ship LNG to Karachi would be officially signed. The deal was finalized on February 20, 2015 in the previous month after one month negotiations on price. A number of other agreements and memorandums on exchange of information, sports, culture, health, informational technologies, and mutual interests will be signed.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatari Emir will be on visit to three Asian countries form March 23, 2015. His Asian tour includes the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Democratic Socialist of Sri Lanka, and the Republic of India. During the tour, which lasts till March 28-29, the Emir will hold talks with leaders and senior officials of theses countries.
