Hardly one day after MQM and JUI-F withdrew their motions to de-seat Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), party leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi made an announcement saying they would return to the National Assembly on Monday.
While talking to media after the party’s parliamentary meeting in Islamabad on Friday, Qureshi said:
“Imran Khan will return to the National Assembly on Monday, and that the PTI will play an active role as an opposition in the House.”
Stressing the need for all political stakeholders to keep democratic traditions intact, Qureshi admonished that any attempt to intervene Imran’s speech in the House will be responded accordingly.
About epic sit-ins on D-Chowk, he said that they were justified in staging a protest for the sanctity of votes of the people and ‘decided to bring an end to the protest after the judicial commission issued its report’.
During his talk to media, Shah Mehmood also commented on MQM supremo Altaf Hussain’s statements against the army and Rangers. He said that way Altaf made his speech was not appropriate and should such language should have been avoided.
Earlier on Thursday, MQM and JUI-F withdrew their motions demanding to de-seat PTI MNAs over their consecutive absence from the House.
