ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Sunday (today) has left for Jakarta Indonesia to attend the 5th Extraordinary Session of the OIC Islamic Summit Conference on the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Shareef.
Hussain will be repressing Pakistan along with representatives of around forty-nine countries. The two-day summit will be beginning from today March 6.
Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is one of the leading platform to address the issues being faced by the Muslim world. The current General Secretary of OIC is Mr Iyad Ameen Madani.
Around 58 countries are the members of OIC, out of which 49 have assured their presence for the event. The 4th Extraordinary Summit of OIC was held on 14-15 August 2011 in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
The 5th Summit is called upon by the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to throw the light on issues of Palestine. Especially, it will be discussing Israeli violence in the Palestine territories.
According to the sources, Mamnoon Hussain will be representing Pakistan on the senior level meeting, whereas Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid will be participating in the ministerial level meeting of the OIC Summit.
5th Extraordinary Summit, convened under the theme “United for a Just Solution” vows to come up with a quick solution to the persistent worries of the Palestinian people and people of Al-Quds Al-Sharif. Hereby the organizers of this Summit are of the view that these worries are not only of the specific countries as they have become a collective issue of the world’s Islamic Ummah.
