By-polls to be held in Abbotabad today


 Peshawar: By-election on the provincial assembly constituency of Pk-45, Abbottabad-II in which approximately 118,000 voters will use their right of franchise here on Thursday.


The polling starts at 8 am in the morning and will be continued without any pause till 5 pm. The presiding officers have already been handed over the election material by the returning officer.

These elections are held in the constituency to fill the vacant seat of Sardar Mehtab Abbasi who resigned after being appointed Governor of  KPK.


The Provincial Election Commissioner Sono Khan Baloch expressed in a press release that 109 polling stations, including 286 polling booths, have been set up for this by-election. Moreover, 109 presiding officers have been appointed for this purpose who will be assisted by 286 assistant presiding officers and the polling officers of the same numbers.

“Training has already been imparted to the polling staff,” said Sono

He also added that approximately 66,899 voters were female while 51,866 male.

Furthermore, all the presiding officers have been allocated the powers of first class magistrate for three days during these elections.
