ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday visited flood-hit areas of Chitral where 300,000 people have been affected by flash floods.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez received the premier on his arrival and took an aerial view of the flood-affected areas. This is the first visit of any premier to the area in 16 years.
Along with KP Governor Sardar Mahtab and Information Minister Pervez Rashid, premier will be briefed about the flood effects, and relief operations in the flood-hit areas.
Premier instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to enhance relief and rescue operations in flood affected areas.
Prime Minister had planned to visit Chitral on Tuesday but due to bad weather it was postponed.
In the past week, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir about six people died in flash floods triggered by heavy rains in the country. Three deaths have been reported due to heavy rain in Rawalpindi.
