PM Nawaz launches world’s first solar powered Parliament

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday launched the world’s first ever solar-powered Parliament House.

After launching one megawatt of solar power plant at parliament house, PM said, “I appreciate the initiatives of National Assembly speaker and Senate chairman for making the country’s parliament the first in the world to be run entirely on solar power.”

“It is encouraging to note that the Parliament’s solar plant will not only meet its own energy requirements but the additional electricity will contribute to the national grid,” Nawaz added.

Nawaz Sharif appreciated the initiative of Speaker National Assembly and the Senate Chairman for making the country’s parliament the first in the world to run entirely on solar power.

On the occasion, Chairman Senate Mian  Raza Rabbani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayzad Sadiq and Chinese president to Pakistan Sun Weidong were also present.
