Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with Army Chief Raheel Sharif left Saudi Arabia to meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday.
Earlier, PM had announced to visit Saudi Arabia and Iran with aim to defuse the rift between two countries.
During the visit of PM in Saudi Arabia, he met King Salman bin Abdulaziz, expressed Pakistan’s deep concern on the recent tension between Saudi Arabi and Iran.
According to press released issued by PM house office, “King Abdullah acknowledged and appreciated the sincere sentiment of the people of Pakistan that they hold for their Saudi brethren and the Kingdom. He also appreciated the initiative of the Pakistani leadership and observed that Saudi Arabia has always strived to promote brotherhood amongst Muslim countries”.
“The Prime Minister reiterated that the people of Pakistan would always stand with the people of Saudi Arabia against any threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom”.
Both sides underscored the need for further strengthening of bilateral relations, in all fields, including defence, economic, security and commercial cooperation, PM office added.
