PM appoints Ibn-e-Abbas as High Commissioner for UK

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has appointed Syed Ibne Abbas as Pakistan’s new High Commissioner to the United Kingdom who will be the first Foreign Service career officer for this position in last fifteen years.

Syed Ibne Abbas had enjoyed the reputation of a distinguished Foreign Service officer who had been the High Commissioner to New Zealand during 2010-13 and served as Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner to India in 2001-03 while remained as Director General South Asia desk during 2005-06 then went to Los Angeles as Consul General in 2006 and held the position till 2010.

Now, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has appointed him as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to UK. His appointment proves his abilities as he would be the first Foreign Service officer to this position in last 15 years as the post previously held by political appointees to ensure the protection of governments political as well as pecuniary interests.

Ibne Abbas joined the Foreign Service in 1983 and had recently been posted as  additional secretary administration at the Foreign Office for the past one year.
