PIA privatisation delayed for six months

ISLAMABAD: The government on Friday delayed the privatisation of the state owned Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for six months and asked the protesting employees to end their strike.

Addressing to media, Chairman Senate Special Committee on Performance of PIA Mushahidullah Khan said that Government is not privatising PIA and also not sacking employees.

The PML-N stalwart warned the protesting employees that the government would use its authority against all those who had jammed the airline offices without any reason.

Answering a question,  Mushahidullah expressed the hope that Airlin employees would resume their routine work following the government’s decision and perform their duties tirelessly  to get the PIA out of crisis.

Prime Minister Nawaz held a high-level meeting to review the impact of PIA employees’ strike.

It was decided during meeting the government will engage employees. Due to protest already billions of rupees have been bear by national exchequer. It was retreated in the meeting that government will not be blackmailed by PIA union.

It was the fourth consecutive day of PIA employees were protesting against the  announced privatization of national airline.
