KARACHI: The joint action committee (JAC) of the protesting employees of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday to call off the strike and asked workers to resume flight operation across the country.
Holding a press talk, JAC chairman Sohail Baloch announced the decision to end the strike and asked the staff to resume their duties.
“We will prove that we can revive the ailing national airline. I don’t see why we can’t do that if we all work hard and are able to revive PIA within a time of six months to a year,” Sohail Baloch added.
JAC chairman said that he will meet Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to address the issue.
“We hope that the meeting with Punjab chief minister will be satisfactory and beneficial for both for the government and the employees of PIA,”
Announcement ended eight days of stalemate between Federal Government and PIA workers protesting over privatisation of national flagship.
