Phase I of Repatriation of IDPs starts today


PESHAWAR: The process of repatriation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of FATA and Waziristan to their homes will begin today after the preparation have been finalized by Pak Army and Political Officials of the tribal agency.



In Phase I, about 45,000 displaced families of South Waziristan and Khyber Agency will return to their homes this week. 25,000 thousand families of Tehsil Sararogha and Sarwakai in South Waziristan will start to move back their homes from today. The return of remaining 20,000 families of Akka Khel areas of Tehsil Bara in Khyber Agency will begin from Friday.

After that Phase II will start from March 31st from the repatriation of 18,000 families of Tehsil Mir Ali of North Waziristan. Each returning family will be paid Rs 25,000 cash assistance and Rs 10,000 as traveling and fare allowance.
