Pervez Musharraf acquits by ATC over Bugti Murder case


QUETTA: An Anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Quetta on Monday acquitted ex president General Pervez Musharraf in a case related to the murder of Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti.


ATC judge Jan Mohammad Gauhar in a short order has , along with former president, also acquitted former federal interior minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and former Balochistan home minister Mir Shoaib Nowsherwani.

Shoail Rajput lawyer who was representing the case from Akbar Bugti side has announced to challenge the decision of the court. He said to reporters, ” Every one is aware of the facts. We believe that those responsible should be punished. We are not satisfied with this judgement and we will challenge it.”


Akbar Bugti was killed in a cave on August 26, 2006 during a military operation during the tenure of Perverz Musharraf, who was president of the Pakistan at that time.

News of his acquittal is shared on his Musharraf official Facebook page, however his own response regarding the  decision still awaited.

Other than Bugti case, Musharraf is facing many high-profile cased in the courts, including Lal Masjid operation Islamabad, Judges detention and murder of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
