ISLAMABAD: A spokesman of Pakistan Air Force has announced that Pakistan has won the first order for its JF-17 Thunder jet, a long awaiting goal by PAF that would boast up military exports of the country.
The latest models of the jet manufactured with the cooperation of China are lightweight multi-role aircraft capable of Mach 2.0 with an operational ceiling of 55,000 feet.
PAF sources confirmed the booking of the order of JF-17 but refused to give details about the orders including the name of client, the number of aircraft and the date of delivery of order keeping in view the sensitivities.
Another source said that the order has been given by an Asian country and the order would be delivered in 2017.
Pakistan’s military had long been a major importer of military equipments especially from China. On the other hand, Pakistan is also hopeful in getting a large revenue by exporting JF-17 along with Pakistan-made tanks and surveillance drones
The major reason of selling of JF17 is its cost that is much more cheaper than US made F-16.
The Paris Air Show is going on from June 15 – 21 and the final three days would be opened for general public too.
