ISLAMABAD: The highly-anticipated joint military parade by the armed forces of Pakistan took place today in the federal capital to give homage to the epoch-making day of March 23.
This specific day is marked with Pakistan Resolution which passed on March 23, 1940 in the then Manto Park, Lahore.
Officials from all three services, Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force, participated in the glorious parade in Islamabad.
Last time the parade took place back in 2008 under the reign of Gen (retd) Pervez Musharaf as a civilian president. However, owing to security concerns, occurrence of these celebrations was discontinued.
Meanwhile, the joint military parade had been a consistent event with exhibition of military power and show of Pakistan’s folk culture, which captured the imagination of the public quite like the traditional parade, with its appealing march-pasts and aerial feats.
This year’s event took place at the new Parade Ground, specially build beside scenic Shakarparian. In the past, the parade took place on Parade Avenue in front of Parliament House and before that, at the Race Course in Rawalpindi.
