Pak-China 900 MW Solar Power Project agreed to expedite


Lahore: Pakistan and China agreed to hasten work on Solar Power Project of 900 MW in Bahawalpur Solar Power Park.


Understanding came during the meeting between Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and a Chinese delegation in Lahore today.

On the occasion Chief Minister Said ” This project is the part of China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC).”

He added “It will start generating 300 MW by the end of 2015, while the project will be completed by next year 2016.”

“Chinese company will be facilitated as per international standard for timely completion of the project.” Shahabaz Sharif said


It will cost $1.5bn. The contract is made with Chinese company named “Zonergy”.  The Park is already generagting 100 MW solar energy inaugurated last month by the Premier.

In first phase of 100 Mw, 0.5 million solar panels were installed divided in three blocks covering 500 acres of park land. Road, buildings and boundary wall of park has already been constructed with 100 MW. Water has been brought from nearby canal.  The work on both of 300 MW and 600 MW units has already been inaugurated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit  to Pakistan in March.
