The long-awaited online passport service has been finally launched. Initially, the service is on the go for overseas Pakistanis, though it will be available in Pakistan within next 6 months .
“The initial phase will begin from June 2017 with a cost of Rs 600-700 million. E-passports will be issued to officials and diplomats initially,” said the federal interior minister at the lunch ceremony of this initiative.
The step is taken to facilitate that clients who had to wait for their turn in an unending queue to have their things done by the passport authorities. Now, the passport holders will be able to apply for extensions in the date of their passports while being at home.
Keeping in view the lack of passport offices across the country, the government of Pakistan has decided to come up with this online initiative so one can renew his/her passport while remaining in luxuries of their houses.
