Number of Military Courts to be increased: COAS approves


KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif endorsed an augmentation in number of military courts for Karachi to deal with high-profile terror cases.


During his daylong visit to Karachi, Gen Raheel made the decision and was also briefed on the current security situation. On the occasion, the COAS appreciated all ranks of the Rangers, police, intelligence agencies and the public of Karachi over their cooperation in rooting out terrorists and target killers from the metropolis. He directed all the security agencies to break evil nexus among terrorism, criminal mafias, violence and corruption to make peaceful and terror free Karachi.

Earlier in the day, Gen Raheel paid a visit to Army Air Defence center in Karachi’s Malir Cantonment area and laid floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada monument.
The COAS also pinned the badges of rank on the shoulders of Lieutenant General Zamir Ul Hassan Shah, Adjutant General Pakistan Army to formally upgrade him to the rank of Colonel Commandant of Army Air Defence.
Earlier, COAS reached Karachi on Monday evening to review the overall security situation of the metropolis and is scheduled to visit Corps V Headquarters later on Tuesday.
