NA Speaker Elections: Former Speaker Ayaz Sadiq files nomination papers


ISLAMABAD: Sardar Muhammad Ayyaz Sadiq has filed the nomination papers for the vacant post of National Assembly Speaker that are going to be held tomorrow


The other candidates for the speakership are Shafqat Mahmood of PTI and Dr. G. G. Jamal from FATA who have also filed their nomination papers. The election for NA Speaker will be held tomorrow and the morning session of the assembly has been convened tomorrow morning at nine.

As per instructions of the Secretary, NA Secretariat, nominations can be filed by twelve by noon. A nominated member can withdraw his candidature any time before the NA proceeds to elect the Speaker.


The seat for NA Speaker was falling vacant because of disqualification for Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq by the Election Tribunal. Ayyaz Sadiq was elected again NA member from the same constituency. Speaking to the media persons after filing the nomination appears, former speaker says, all parties except PTI are going to support him tomorrow. Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq that after selecting as a speaker, he will struggle to conduct the proceedings of the Lower House in a neutral way where every member will express his opinion.
