The President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have felicitated the nation on the occasion of Eid ul Azha and called for promoting the spirit of affection, patience and brotherhood. They have asked the countrymen not to forget the poor and needy.

The President asked the nation to remember the Ummah in their prayer, particularly for their country that may Allah save it from curse of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism and bless it with peace and prosperity.

The Prime Minister in the message also said that true happiness of Eid could be enjoyed when everyone share the joys and happiness with poor neighbours, relatives and country fellows as it is our religious and moral responsibility.

The main Eid congregation in the capital will be held at the Faisal Mosque. A large number of parliamentarians, officials and envoys of Muslim countries and high officials are expected to offer Eid prayer at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad.

After offering Eid prayers, the faithful will slaughter their sacrificial animals, including cows, camels, goats and sheep, in remembrance of Sunnat-e Ibrahimi.

Eidul Azha is also known as the “Feast of the Sacrifice”. It honours the willingness of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail (A.S) as an act of submission of Allah’s command before Allah then intervened, through his angel Jibrail and informs him that his sacrifice has already been accepted.

Eid ul Adha or Eidul Azha meat distribution:

The meat from the sacrificed animal is preferred to be divided into three parts as follows:

One third share of the meat is retained by the family

Another one third is for neighbours, relatives and friends.

Remaining one third is for needy and poor people.
