Scotland Yard arrested Altaf Hussain from London residence
Karachi: Leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain was arrested today on money laundering.
Police had been investigating in this case for many months, however, the MQM leader was taken into custody this afternoon when Scotland Yard raid on his house in London.
the ensues of the incident have been occurred immediately and the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE-100 index) fell 780 points down while commercial centers in the province to which he belongs started to shut down.
On the other hand, according to MQM leader Farogh Nassem, Altaf had not been arrested rather he was taken by Scotland Yard to investigate in some related cases. Moreover, a senior MQM leader Farooq Sattar had revealed a couple of days ago in front of public that Altaf’s bank account in London was suspended and the party workers were asked to keep their peaceful protest against the British government.
It was declared by The London Metropolitan Police in July last year that they had started investigations based on money laundering and exciting violence in Pakistan against Altaf. However, they took serious step to arrest him after a considerable amount of money had been sought out from his residence in London.
In addition to money laundering, he had also been and investigated in Dr Imran Farooq’s murder case.
