ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif presiding over a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy directed to ensure hassle free power supply at ‘Iftar’ and ‘Sehr’ during Ramazan and that no cuts will be anymore witnessed during these times.
Ongoing Power generation projects progress and future plans to meet energy requirements reviewed during the meeting.
PM directs water and power ministry to ensure uninterrupted power in Ramazan. After the prime minister’s clear instructions for uninterrupted power supply during the holy month, the water and power ministry has started taking appropriate measures in this regard.
The water and power minister Khawaja Asif pointed out that power generation had increased from 9,000MW to 13,000MW with extra production of about 4,000MW of electricity.
A helpline is being established where consumers can lodge their complaints against the violation of PM’s instruction regarding power supply during Ramzan.
The government is going to withdraw the subsidy on electricity from those who can afford to pay.
