ISLAMABAD: Afghan President Hamid Karzai telephoned PM Nawaz Sharif on Thursday and promise to increase security cooperation between the two countries.
“Prime Minister received a call from President Karzai at 8pm today and discussed security cooperation between the two countries,” The prime minister’s spokesperson said.
He said that it was a follow up call which was made by the Afghan President after Mehmood Khan Achakzai paid a visit to Kabul to discuss the security matters in the region. The call from Karzai is considered to be a positive sign and will enhance the confidence of the forces and the government in the ongoing operation against militants.
Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said at a weekly briefing on Thursday that Afghanistan had assured its full support to Zarb-i-Azb. She also said that civil and military leadership of the country had contacted Afghan authorities on the issue.
