Karachi: PAF aircraft crashed


KARACHI: PAF air craft crashed, killing at least three people and injuring eight at Baldia Town Karachi.


Pakistan Air Force (PAF) trainer aircraft crashed today afternoon. Both pilots and a citizen have died.

The incident took place in Baldia Town metropolis bus terminal in Yousuf Goth. The crash injured at least eight on ground. Eyewitnesses told that the aircraft flew from PAF Base Masroor, hit 11,000KV high power transmission wire and exploded in the air. The rubble from the crash was spread far and wide.


Sajid Sadozai, a senior police official, told two buses parked at the terminal were destroyed completely while another was damaged due to fire. A number of nearby buildings also suffered structural damage.

A PAF spokesman confirmed that both pilots flying the training  jet had died in the crash, but could not give a cause for the incident. The plane was a small fighter jet and its type is not yet disclosed.

TV footage showed clouds of black smoke rising from the site as rescue teams and fire fighters reached the site.
