QUETTA: Two men said to be associated with the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) convener Dr Imran Farooq were arrested from the Pak-Afghan border in Chaman as confirmed on Thursday.
The accused – identified as Mohsin Ali and Khalid Shamim by Frontier Corps (FC) spokesman – are wanted in the murder case of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq.
In a statement issued on Thursday, FC spokesperson Khalid Wasey claimed that both suspects belong to a Karachi based political party. The accused were handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for interrogation after important revelations.
After the arrest of these two, an important breakthrough is expected in the Imran Farooq case, said a security official.
Additionally to the links of these two in the assassination of Imran Farooq in London, according to a press report placed on record on the court’s order, Shamim had hands in a murder case registered at the Model Colony police station.
Moreover, the other man said to be detained by FC on Thursday – Mohsin Ali – is mentioned in the same report as one of the two suspects who are supposed to have flew from Pakistan to London to assassinate Imran Farooq.
