The Islamabad High Court endorsed on Tuesday a seven day pre-arrest protective bail for former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in a dozen cases in the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) scam.
The bail was granted against the surety bonds of Rs100,000 for each of the cases as the court ordered during the hearing of Gilani’s bail before an arrest petition.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader said while talking to media outside the court that he believes he will be given justice in the cases.
Earlier, non-bailable arrest warrants for the PPP leaders Gilani and Makhdoom Amin Fahim by an anti-corruption court in Karachi.
The judge asked the concerned authorities to arrest the two PPP big names by September 10 and provide them in front of the court.
These orders were issued after the Federal Investigation Agencey (FIA) provided an absolute charge-sheet having 12 new cases filed against them.
Meanwhile, more than 70 cases in relation to TDAP scam had been presented in the court that are pending. The former prime minister Gilani and his comrades were charged in 12 of these cases last year. But both of them achieved bail and had got exemptions from appearing in hearings.
