Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain expressed their heartfelt grief over loss of lives and property in the wake of earthquake, which hit Pakistan in the middle of the day.
The President has directed for provisions of all probable medical facilities to the wounded especially those in KPK, which faced the most casualties.
He gave directions to concerned institutions to take immediate measures to assure rescue and relief. The President asked them to evaluate the damage in the far-flung areas of the country.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz phoned Governor KP and directed him to immediately mobilize tribal administration to ensure relief and damage evaluation.
As directed by PM, a crisis cell has also been set up at the PM’s House to have coordination with all federal, civil, military and provincial agencies for damage assessment, rescue, relief and recovery. The cell is directed to work round the clock.
Earlier, a sudden earthquake hit couple of countries of Asia when about at 2:10 Afghanistan, Pakistan and India were jolted. The centre-point of the quake was that of in Afghanistan; however, Pakistan’s KP province has reportedly been hit at the highest among other cities of the country.
The death toll has crossed hundred so far and likely to increase in the country.
