The former minister quoted an aide of Sharif as disclosing with him that in the midst of dialogue in July 1999 between the premiers of both countries, when Atal Behari Vajpayee, the then Indian PM handed the phone to Kumar who was listening in.

“The prime minister did not believe it was his hero on the phone,” Mr Kasuri told NDTV. During that conversation, the legendary B-Town star assured PM Nawaz that it was indeed he speaking, and he was concerned about the flare-up on the Kargil tops.

He requested MP Nawaz to help defuse the issue quickly as that would be the appropriate thing to do in the interest of the people of both the countries.

Clashes between both these countries have been there since long as Pakistan once was a part of ‘Maha Bhaharat’ (Great India) and its separating itself had never been admitted from the other side.

In another interview with the Headlines Today channel, Kasuri also talked about a top ranked American team investigating him about the probable response from Pakistan in case India were to trigger an aerial strike on suspected terrorist camps, which India considered responsible for the Mumbai attacks.
