COAS Raheel Sharif will retire on due date: DG ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Asim Bajwa in series of tweets on Monday, cleared the position of Army Chief on the speculations of  him taking service extension or not.

“Speculations about extension in service of COAS are baseless. COAS said;”Pakistan Army is a great institution. I do’nt believe in extension”

 

Reflecting the resolve against terrorism, tweet said that  Efforts to route out terrorism will continue with full vigour and resolve

Raheel Sharif further said that national interest is supreme and it will be safe guarded at all cost.

Born in Quetta on 16 June, 1956 to Pakistan Army Major Muhammad Sharif.  His family has long tradition to serve Pakistan Army. Major Shabir Sharif, elder brother of COAS has awarded Nishen-e-Haider ( Highest Military Award).  Raheel Sharif completed his formal education before joining military from Government College Lahore.

On 27 November 2013, Raheel Sharif was appointed as the 15th Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army for three years.  He was also awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (the second highest civilian award and honour that is given to both civilians and military officers of the Pakistan armed forces).
