Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif stated on Friday that providing safe guard to nuclear entities of the country is a sacred duty.
“Nuclear security is a sacred responsibility and I am glad to see that it has instilled as a culture and the progress being made in the recent past is praiseworthy,” said the COAS while being on visit to Pakistan’s Centre of Excellence for Nuclear Security (PCENS).
General Raheel observed PCENS’ latest and modern facilities and ongoing training activities during this visit.
On this occasion, COAS expressed his complete confidence in Pakistan’s nuclear security regime and commended the high standards of professionalism and commitment of the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) security forces, assigned with protecting Pakistan’s strategic assets.
Earlier, Director General Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General Mazhar Jamil welcomed COAS upon his arriving at PCENS.
Meanwhile, to strengthen nuclear security regime par with international standard, the country has gone to adopt certain measures including establishing of PCENS. The country has also offered this Centre of Excellence as a regional and international center for transmitting nuclear security education and training to the international community.
PCENS has carried out number of national and international training courses ever since its establishment. The courses mainly focus on physical protection, personal reliability along with safety and protecting of nuclear and radiological materials and other facilities.
