COAS Raheel meets Ashraf Ghani, US military leadership over Kabul stopover

RAWALPINDI:  Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday on way from Tajikistan made a brief stopover in Kabul, where he attended change of Command ceremony of Resolute Support Mission and met with Afghan president Ashraf Ghani, ISPR said.

The COAS discussed regional security and border management in meetings with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, United States (US) Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) Gen Joseph Dunford, Gen Lloyd J. Austin Commander US Central Command (Centcom) and Resolute Support Mission Commander Gen Nicholson.

Meetings reviewed and expressed their optimism for positive outcome of reconciliation process being pursued through the ongoing QCG framework.

Army media wing head Asim Bajwa said, Raheel Sharif reiterated whole hearted support to Afghan leadership for peace, stability in Afghanistan.
