ISLAMABAD: Mr. Xi Jinping – the President and paramount leader of the People’s Republic of China arrives in Parliament to address the joint setting of Pakistan National Assembly and Senate today on his second and last day State Visit to Pakistan.
Mr. Jinping arrived at the Parliament where he was welcomed by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani. Parliamentarians, senior government officials , Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Zakaullah, and Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt are present in the Parliament House for the occasion.
The guest President also inaugurated the 1 MW solar power system of the Parliament that was visioned and executed by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Pakistani parliament is the only parliament in the world to go green. He also held a joint meeting with the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani.
After the end of joint session, President Xi Jinping will head to the Aiwan-e-Sadr, where he will be awarded with the highest civil award and decoration, Nishan-e-Pakistan. Later, the President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain will host a luncheon in honour of Chinese President and his delegation.
Chinese President is the 9th foreign government officials, second Chinese government official, and the first Chinese President to address the joint Parliament session of Pakistan. At the occasion, Resolution of Thanks will be also passed.
