Atleast 15 killed, 10 wounded in blast near polio office in Quetta

Quetta: Atleast 15 killed, 10 wounded in a blast near polio campaign center in Quetta on Wednesday morning.

A local police official told AFP,“There are 15 dead, including 12 police, one paramilitary, and two civilians.”

After the incident, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said that the personnel of law enforcement agencies were among the dead and injured. “We were living in a conflict zone and hostile agencies were targeting us,” he said.

“It is a conflict zone and hostile agencies have been carrying out sabotage acts after China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other mega projects were announced in the region,” he said. Bugti said that it was being investigated whether it was a suicide attack or a bomb blast.

DIG Police Quetta, Syed Imitiaz Shah, said that seven- eight kilogram of explosives were used in bomb attack. Most of the dead persons are from police.

It is the last  day of three-day  polio drive in Quetta and other cities of Balochistan. The campiang has been suspended by the official after attack.
