While in Italy the lack of agreement with SIAE is being discussed, Meta launches paid verification internationally: $12 per month to get blue ticks on Facebook and Instagram. The premium feature launched today in the US and, in addition to a verification badge, allows you to get additional benefits such as direct access to platform help.
How does Meta pay verification work?
Users can choose between a browser or app subscription. The first costs $12 per month, but it doesn’t guarantee benefits through the mobile app. The second, on the other hand, sells for a good $15, and in addition to verification, it includes custom stickers for stories and reels.
It should be noted that unlike Twitter Blue, Verified Meta accounts will not benefit from any increase in visibility. In addition, Meta Verified subscribers cannot change their profile name, photo, username, or date of birth unless they are willing to go through the verification process again. Any previously verified Instagram or Facebook account will keep the blue checkmark.
Meanwhile, a veritable tsunami of protests is collapsing in Italy over Meta’s choice to remove almost all music from Facebook and Instagram posts, stories and reels. The maneuver follows a lack of agreement with the Italian Association of Authors and Publishers (SIAE). Not only that: Meta also removed songs belonging to Soundreef’s catalog in these hours, threatening the latter with legal maneuvers should the library not be restored.
