The Lahore High Court on Thursday made a clean breast upon hearing a request pursuing the insertion of the name of the current Khatoon-i-Awal (Kalsoom Nawaz) on the Exit Control List (ECL).
The plea, submitted by Advocate Javed Iqbal Jaffery, raising objections earlier on the application were removed was heard by the court to the court which admitted for hearing by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
The petitioner stated, in his application, that the premier and his wife took luxurious international tours on government funds, adding that the prime minister has made frequent visits to the UK, China and Turkey.
The petitioner also claimed that the prime minister was enlarging his personal family businesses through these costly expeditions funded by the national treasury.
During his first five months in the Office, the chief executive of the country had reportedly spent nearly a month abroad on one private and five official visits.
The Supreme Court today will also take up disqualification petitions against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for allegedly misleading Parliament on August 29, when he had claimed that the government had not asked the armed forces to mediate in the political crisis in Islamabad or become a ‘facilitator’ between the government and the protesting PTI and PAT.
