Nitin Gadkari clarifies asking FM Sitharaman not to quit Chinese imports at ports

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari clarified as to why he asked Nirmala Sitharaman not to keep back Chinese imports at the Indian ports soon after a lot of complained of BJP’s doublespeak on boycotting China products.

Nitin Gadkari instructed in an job interview that he had published a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, request them not keep back again the Chinese goods at Indian ports. The Union Minister of Street Transportation and Highways mentioned keeping again Chinese imports which have been paid for, would impact Indian businessmen.

“I have composed a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal apprising them of this difficulty. If we halt consignment at Indian ports, it will only effects Indian businessmen. So, if we want to stop imports from China then we really should raise the obligation. There are some constraints but we will solve this difficulty,” Nitin Gadkari told in an job interview to The Quint.

In the backdrop of the India-China border standoff, the BJP declared to boycott Chinese goods to educate a lesson to China. Several persons are spreading this concept on social media.
