Metaverse, the platform of the future that high-tech giants are focusing on as a new form of communication, work and entertainment, is beginning to take shape. Meta continues to hire developers and managers while there, like Sony, thinking about devices that can combine the physical world with the digital world. In a patent that recently appeared online, a special scanner has been demonstrated that can turn real things into files for virtualization, thus populating a person’s apartment or office on the metaverse. The technology in question will allow players to scan real-world objects into virtual reality, making anything interactive in the VR space. The patent was filed on June 23, 2021 but the US office has requested more information. So far, it has not been fully approved.
In addition to the metaverse, Sony could release such a device primarily for PlayStation owners. In the catalog of video games there are titles, such as Dreams, developed by Media Molecule, in which players can recreate their worlds, starting from scratch. Using the scanner, enthusiasts will have the opportunity to reduce their surroundings in a three-dimensional image, with greater precision in drawing. Sony is no stranger to such experiences. In 2017, he brought the 3D Creator app on his Xperia smartphone, to reproduce objects and faces in three dimensions, captured in 360 degrees using the mobile camera.
