Match Point: Literary Competition for Italians in the UK

This is how the cultural association Il Circolo di Londra presents its latest initiative dedicated to all emerging (or established) writers who They want to participate by translating their ideas on a white paper.

The project, created in collaboration with the writing school Londra Scrive and sponsored by the Italian Consulate General in London and The Italian Book Shop, is called Match Point and is the first literary competition for authors who write in Italian and live in the UK.

Unpublished stories can be submitted and linked to a mathematical proposal or, more broadly, to an idea rendezvous point Understood as a metaphor: the story of moments in the balance, defining moments, decisive choices and challenges on the pitch or in life.

The participating stories will be read by a prestigious jury, made up of literary and editorial professionals, all Italian-Londonese: Olga Campofrida (literary critic and sports coach), Benedetta Cibrario (writer), Isabella D’Amico (literary communication expert), Danielle DeRosi ( writer), Marco Mancasola (writer and author of the London Scrive), Paolo Nilli (writer), Katerina Sovici (writer and journalist).

The jury will announce three winning stories: the first will receive a prize of £1,000, the second and third will receive a prize of £500 each.

As an added appreciation, the three shortlisted stories will win a professional editing experience sponsored by Londra Skrief, and the possibility of being published in L’Ultimo Uomo and in Cattedrale – Osservatorio sul racconto: a sports and popular culture magazine and a literature magazine dedicated to the art of story are the competition partners.

For participating stories, they must be written by residents of the United Kingdom, who are of legal age at the time of submission. It must not exceed 20 thousand characters in length and will be uploaded in electronic format with personal data. The application deadline is July 31. The winners will be announced in October, at an official event, details of which will be announced later.
