KARACHI: Two Military Police (MP) personnel were shot dead on Tuesday when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle near Tibet Centre on MA Jinnah road.
Confirming the incident and death of two officials, senior medico-legal officer (MLO) said that one of the military men, Rashid, was confirmed dead when arrived at the hospital after being shot; while, the second injured, Arshad, succumbed to his injuries during being provided treatment at the hospital.
DIG South Dr Jamil told the media that two veiled assailants fired indiscriminately on the military vehicle and escaped from the spot. He confirmed that two military officials were there in the van when the incident took place.
According to eye witnesses, two attackers on motor-bikes fled the scene right away when the incident happened. The injured officials were shifted to Civil Hospital for the first aid treatment.
Soon after the tragedy, the area has been cordoned off and forensic officials have reached the spot to gather evidence to launch investigation.
Previously, three Rangers personnel were killed as a result of same sort of attack in Karachi couple of weeks ago. Karachi has been undergone an operation against the criminal and crooks of the city by the Rangers.
