KARACHI: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed the responsibility of the attack in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority killing a retire major of the Pakistan Army on Saturday.
Major (retd) Ahsan Raza, 52, died immediately after the attack in DHA Phase-I.
“Two unidentified gunmen on a motorbike opened fire at Raza, in the early hours of Saturday,” said a duty officer at Defence Police Station.
The dead body of the retd major was sent to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) following the incident.
In the light of a statement read by spokesperson Muhammad Khorasani, the special task force unit of TTP triggered the attack in Karachi, beside an assault on a deputy superintendent of police DSP in Peshawar, and an explosion in Quetta, killing one Frontier Corps official.
Meanwhile, TTP has been underground for quite a while since the operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched last year against the terrorism in the country. Besides, the rangers have also played a great part in curbing terrorist attack and target killing in the biggest city of the country. However, this attack which killed a man from Army is an alarming one for the authorities of Pakistan.
