NA-245 by-polls: PTI candidate Amjadullah Khan withdraws and joins MQM


KARACHI: PTI’s candidate for NA-245 by-polls Amjadullah Khan late on Wednesday night withdraws from the election in favor of MQM’s candidate Kamal Mallick and joined MQM just hours before the contest was to be held. Ajmadullah Khan’s surprise exit from PTI at eleventh hour is a mighty blow for PTI.


Ajmadullah Khan, late on Wednesday night arrived to the Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall, MQM office where he told media about his move to join MQM and withdrawal from the election.

Amjadullah Khan while addressing tio media told the lack of management and cooperation of PTI leadership led him to made this decision hours before the elections.

According to the analysts, the PTI candidate in NA-245 was some sot of a strong MQM in the area and after his departure it seems that it will be an easy affair for MQM to regain this seat.

It should be kept mentioned that in NA-245 2013 elections,MQM’s Muhammad Rehan Hashmi won comprehensively by getting 11810 votes, the runner up was PTI’s Muhammad Riaz with 54751 votes, whereas, Jamaat-e-Islami and PPP candidates managed for minimal votes, 22376 and 2408 respectively.
