KARACHI: On Saturday, eyewitnesses identified accused Syed Asif Ali as the primary killier of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker Waqas Shah during a Rangers raid at the party headquarters on March 11.
The two witnesses of the incident identified in front of a judicial magistrate central court Syed Asif Ali as the criminal. The court then handed over the accused to police and he will be presented in an anti-terrorism court either today or on Monday as the time period of his physical remand has expired.
MQM worker 25 years old, Waqas Shah was shot dead during a protest against the paramilitary raid at MQM headuqarters, Nine Zero on March 11. Asif Ali killed Waqas Shah and then tried to blame the Rangers, a press release issued by the paramilitary force on June 25, adding into that the killing had been planned to defame the paramilitary force.
The Rangers also mentioned the names of the party’s top leaders, Farooq Sattar and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqi, stating that they knew the killer.
In response to this arrest, the MQM condemned the Rangers press release and labeled it an attempt to protect the real criminals.
