KARACHI: The former federal minister for petroleum, Dr Asim Hussain is taken into custody on Wednesday in Karachi.
According to sources, law enforcement agencies have arrested the ex-minister over number of corruption cases which are registered against him as well. Meanwhile, it is not an overnight detention of the former minister who had been a sort of right hand of the former president Asif Zardari, but National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been after him for quite a long time.
Dr Asim had served as a federal minister for petroleum during Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) tenure.
Moreover, Dr Asim is serving in the health and education department in Sindh besides, he is a chairman of Ziauddin Group of Hospitals in Karachi. At the moment, he is working as the Chairman of Higher Commission of Pakistan, Sindh and Chairman of Petroleum Institute of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, a prominent journalist and analyst Rauf Klasra has said that the detained Dr Asim would disclose other cases as well if the investigation agencies deal with him after having done proper home work.
