KARACHI: Four gunmen were shot dead after a clash broke out between police and unidentified assailants who tried to target the convoy of SSP Rao Anwar in Karachi on Saturday.
In the light of the primary reports, Rao Anwar and his convoy left his house in Malir and were on their way to the High Court the moment suspicious persons on a motorbike attempted to attack the police mobile.
Talking to media, SSP Anwar said that he is habitual in checking every static vehicle alongside the road. So, today when he stumble upon such an auto, he get his convoy stopped nearby and tried to enquire why that vehicle was standing there. But before he could come near, the suspicious people drove their car.
At pursuing, they opened fire at the police van to start a clash. Place retaliation killed four of the unidentified men. The identity of the assailants is yet to be ascertained; however, investigation is under way.
Meanwhile, this isn’t for the first time that SSP Rao has come under attack. In April 2012, when he was making his way to the Malir court, a suicide bomber hit his APC. The attack caused lives of five people and left 18 others injured, but SSP Rao survived.
