Sardar Mehtab Abbas resigns from KP governorship


PESHAWAR: Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi on Monday resigned from the post of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governor.


According to reports, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has accepted the resignation.

PML-N Stalwart took charge of the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 14, 2014.

There are four names under-consideration for the office of Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in coming days PM Nawaz will  final   the name for the vacant position.


Sardar Mehat Abbasi Political career:

He has elected five times member of provincial assembly in 1985, 1988, 1990, 1993 and 1997.

In 2003 he was elected in Senate, in last general elections 2013, he had contested for National Assembly and Provincial Assembly seats, lost in NA seats but elected for KP assembly, he was made opposition leader in KP but resigned after taking oath of KP governor.

He has remained Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 1997 to 1999 as well.
