A local court announced on Thursday a non-bailable arrest warrants against Mustafa Kanju over possessing Kalashnikov without license.
The warrants were issued after the convict didn’t ensure his appearance before the court. The court also asked the police to take him into custody and bring forth Kanju in the next hearing.
Earlier, the Thursday hearing was carried out in the court of Judicial Magistrate Akram Azad. As the proceedings started, the investigation officer informed the court that Mustafa Kanju had triggered fire using an unlicensed Kalashnikov, blowing off a passerby Zain.
As contended the public prosecutor, the convict didn’t even make his appearance before the court to express his stance. The court ordered afterwards a decree containing non-bailable warrants against the accused and adjourned the hearing till January 5.
Mustafa Kanju had earlier been exonerated by an anti-terrorism court following the witnesses’ backtracking from the statements. The verdict, however, was challenged later on by the Punjab government in Lahore High Court (LHC).
